Depending on your chosen ticket (Standard or Flex), we can charge costs for making adjustments in your booking. Please read our terms and conditions for more information. -
Adding extras to your booking
Before departure, you can add extras to your booking, like a parking spot in the Eemshaven (for long-term parking), a train taxi from Eemshaven train station to the terminal, or a meal on board (breakfast and/or dinner). -
Adding personal details
When making your booking, it is important that the traveller details match the details as stated in your passport or identity card. The name mentioned on your passport must be filled in when making the booking. Please note: travelling with a driver’s license is not possible. -
Booking a cabin
It is mandatory to book a cabin during your crossing. The cabin is always a private cabin and will not be shared with other travellers. You can choose from different cabin types, which you can have a look at here. In the booking engine, you can then select your desired cabin, when making the booking. -

Travelling with your own vehicle
If you are coming to the terminal in the Eemshaven with your own vehicle, we advise you to plan your trip in advance and use the following site: Groningen Bereikbaar. -
Travelling with public transport
If you are travelling with public transport to the terminal in the Eemshaven, you can get off at Eemshaven Station. Please consult ns.nl or 9292.nl for planning your trip. There are several train taxis driving from the train station in Eemshaven to our terminal, starting from 13:00 pm. You can pre-book this taxi for €2 per person.

Customs in Norway
Upon arrival in Norway, you will leave the ship. Every passenger is obliged to go through customs. If you have something to declare, choose the red row. If you are in a coach or disembark by taxi you can let the driver know if you have anything to declare. The driver will then stop at customs so that you can complete the declaration. Consult the site of the Norwegian Customs for what you can/cannot bring into Norway and what you can/cannot take with you when you leave Norway. -
Customs in the Netherlands
Upon arrival in the Netherlands, you will leave the ship. Every passenger is obliged to go through customs. If you have something to declare, choose the red row. If you are on a coach or disembarking with the shuttle bus, you can let the driver know if you have anything to declare. The driver will then stop at customs, so that you can complete the declaration. Consult the site of the Dutch Customs for what you can/cannot take with you when travelling back to the Netherlands, and to see what you can/cannot take with you when leaving the Netherlands. -
Time to be present
In Eemshaven, check-in opens at 11:00 am. We advise you to arrive 120 minutes prior to departure at the terminal, for both foot passengers and passengers with a vehicle. In case you need specific assistance when boarding, we also advise you to be at the terminal 120 minutes before departure. NOTE: Check-in closes 60 minutes prior to ship departure. Always check the departure and arrival times on your most recent ticket. -
Check-in Norway
In Kristiansand, the check-in opens at 11:30 am. We advise you to arrive 90 minutes prior to departure at the terminal, for both foot passengers and passengers with a vehicle. In case you need specific assistance when boarding, we advise you to be at the terminal 120 minutes before departure. NOTE: Check-in closes 60 minutes prior to ship departure. Always check the departure and arrival times on your most recent ticket -
Information for Minicruise Passengers
When you are travelling to Kristiansand on a minicruise, do not forget to bring your passport or identity card with you when you disembark the ship. When returning on board, you must check in again at the terminal in Kristiansand. -
In Eemshaven
Our terminal in Eemshaven features a waiting area, toilets (for disabled), a baby changing room, and an information desk. On our sailing days, the terminal is opened from 11:00 am and only accessible when you have a booking. After you have checked in, you have the possibility to buy something to eat or drink in our terminal in the Eemshaven. Enjoy a cup of coffee, tea, or choose a cooled bottle of soft drink. We also sell sandwiches with different toppings, muffins, as well as confectionery and savory snacks. You can enjoy these in the coffee corner inside, or when the weather permits, on the terrace outside, while you wait until you can board the ship. -
In Norway
The terminal in Kristiansand opens at 11 am in the morning. We share the terminal building with two other ferry companies. If you enter the building, you walk straight into our check-in desk. If you go up the stairs, you will find a shared waiting area, as well as the toilets.

Booking with pets
It is possible to travel with a pet, we have multiple pet friendly cabins that are available to book. It is not allowed to leave your pet in your vehicle during the crossing. If you are travelling with one or more dogs, you can bring a maximum of two dogs in a pet friendly cabin. If you are travelling with more than two dogs, there are (a limited number of) dog kennels available per crossing. The price for a dog kennel is €30 one way. There are two kennels available for dogs up to 45kg and three kennels for dogs up to 30kg. Travelling with pets

Pet friendly cabins
Pet-friendly cabins are available on board, here your pet can stay with you during the trip. In our pet-friendly cabins, located on deck 5, a maximum of 2 pets applies. You can find more information about the pet-friendly cabins on the cabin page. -
Walking your dog
Dogs must remain in the cabin or kennel during the crossing and are not allowed in the public areas. With the exception of the designated outdoor area on deck 6, where dogs are allowed to be walked. You are responsible for cleaning up your dog’s feces. -
Medical care on board
On board the MS Romantika we do not have a (full-fledged) doctor, only a medic/first-aid worker. -
Taking medication
You are free to bring your medication on board and to Norway, you can indicate this in your booking. We ask you to check which medication you need a certificate for in order to take it with you to Norway, for more information please go here. If you have medication that needs to be kept refrigerated, you can indicate this at check-in and drop off the medication on board at reception, there is a fridge available for medication there, the reception is available 24/7. -
Bring your own wheelchair
Are you travelling with your own electric or manual wheelchair? Manual wheelchairs must be placed in the cabin. Electric wheelchairs can only be parked on the car deck, unfortunately they cannot be used in the common areas. Do you have limited mobility or difficulty walking? Then we recommend you to bring a crutch, walker, or folding wheelchair. -
Seasickness
If you are prone to seasickness, we recommend you take timely measures. We may have seasickness pills available at reception. -
All vehicle types
- Put vehicle on handbrake in P or first gear. This will keep your vehicle stable.
- Turn off the car alarm. This prevents a dead battery and possible noise pollution.
- Collect your luggage in time for the crossing. The car deck is not accessible during the crossing.

Campers and caravans
- Gas cylinders must be sealed, due to fire safety.
- Put the caravan on the handbrake. Remember to take it off before driving off the ship.

Electric cars
It is not possible to charge your electric car on board the ship. -
Motorcycles
- Motorcycles are the last vehicles to go on board. This is due to the specific layout of the ship.
- Put your motorcycle in first gear, on steering lock and alarm off. We recommend that you put your motorcycle on the side or middle stand.
- It is your own responsibility that your motorcycle is properly secured. Lashing material is available for this, you can also use your own material. The crew can assist you where necessary, but is not responsible for the securing.

Bikes and E-bikes
- Bicycles can be placed in a bicycle rack on the car deck
- E-bikes may be taken on board, they will be parked on the car deck. The bikes are not allowed to be taken through the corridors or to the cabin, nor is it allowed to charge the battery in the cabin.
- Folding bicycles may only be taken into the cabin if they are folded and in a bag. Other bicycles which can go in a bag are not allowed in the cabin.

Wi-Fi
WiFi vouchers - is available on the ship, which means that reception is not available everywhere. The onboard Wi-Fi is only intended for 'standard' web surfing and is not suitable for services that require higher bandwidth, such as streaming or downloading videos. -
Roaming
Since we partly pass through areas with telecom providers from outside the EU during the crossing, it is important to disable the ‘roaming’ function on your phone to avoid high costs. -
Self-brought Food and Drinks
Self-brought food and drinks are only allowed in your own cabin. In the public areas of the ship, it is not allowed to consume your self-brought food and drinks.
