When you want to travel to Norway for less than 90 days, you do not need a visa, as long as you are in possession of a passport of one of the Schengen countries.
Travelling to Norway is only possible with a valid passport or valid identity card. Please note: a driver’s license is not a valid travel document!

Shuttleservice
We offer our travellers a shuttleservice between Groningen Central Station and our terminal in Emden. It is possible to add the shuttle while making a booking. It is also possible to add this afterwards, by logging in with your booking number on our website. The cost for the shuttle service is €15,- per person per one-way journey.
Groningen – Emden: The shuttlebus departs at 14:45 from the Flixbus bus station, which is located at Stationsweg 9726AZ, Groningen. Because of the strict schedule, we kindly request that you arrive at the bus station well in time before the bus is schedule to leave. The bus will arrive in Emden around 16:15. You will be dropped off in front of our check-in terminal.
Emden – Groningen: The shuttlebus departs at 10:30 in front of the terminal in Emden. The bus will arrive in Groningen around 12:00. You will be dropped off at the Flixbus bus station, which is located at Stationsweg 9726AZ, Groningen.
Dogs are allowed to be brought on request. The dog must be leashed and is not allowed on the seats. It is not possible to take bicycles on the shuttle bus. The shuttle bus is unfortunately not accessible for wheelchairs, but a foldable wheelchair can be taken in the luggage compartment of the bus. The bus is also equipped with a toilet.

Travelling with your own vehicle
From June 1st, Emden will be our new regular departure port. Emden is located just across the German border, just an hour's drive from Groningen. This gives you on average only 25 minutes extra travel time by car. See the map for travel distances to Emden.

Travelling with public transport
The train station Emden Außenhafen is located in the port, at a short walking distance to our terminal. Holland Norway Lines offers a shuttle service for €15 p.p. (one way) from the main station in Groningen, directly to the departure terminal in Emden. This shuttle connects to the ship’s arrival and departure times in Emden. The shuttle bus departs at 14:45 pm from the Flixbus busstation, which is located at Stationsweg 9726AZ, Groningen (across Groningen central trainstation). Because of the strict schedule, we kindly request you to arrive well in time before departure. The bus will arrive in Emden around 16:15 pm. You will be dropped off in front of our check-in terminal. The bus can be recognised by the HNL logo.

Tax Returns
In some cases it is possible to fill in a tax return form for goods purchased in Norway. You can arrange this while you are still in Norway. In order to do so, you need to first request a tax return form.
You can request a form online, before you travel. You can do that on this site.
Take the following steps:
1. Choose ‘Travelling to and from Norway’
2. Choose ‘Travelling from Norway’
3. Choose ‘Reimbursement of VAT to tourists’
4. Download the form and bring it to Norway, to fill it in there
In Kristiansand, you can have your form validated at Nord Gifts, in the Markensgate 6.
1. Make sure that all your Forms are properly filled in
2. Present your unused purchases, receipts, passport and Tax Free Forms for export validation
3. Once your Tax Free Form has been validated, our team will arrange for payment of your refund in cash or to your credit card
